Bait & Tackle Reports

Bluefish/Spanish at Cape Lookout
Posted On : 2013-08-19

Not much has changed since last week.  Inshore fishing continues to be doing well with the Spanish and bluefish both showing up in large numbers out at the point of the Cape.  I received many reports of nice 2-3lb. bluefish and Spanish coming from the same areas.  Lots of big bait pods along the beach and lots of bait in the sounds right now.  Speaking of sounds, the Old Drum are biting very well in the Pamlico right now.  Capt. Brian Harrington and Capt. George Beckwith are both reporting some double digit days they are having.  If you have never caught one of these massive drum I encourage you to come by the shop so we can get you set up or give Capt George or Brian a call to take you or your family out for a trip.

Offshore fishing is still doing very well. The wahoo's continued to bite very well this past weekend.  Lots of boats caught 4-8 fish with some dolphins mixed in.  I have attached a picture of a nice wahoo that Capt. Patrick Shore caught on his boat yesterday along with Brandon Shore and Zane Bennett.  This particular wahoo came out to weigh 48.5lb.  Nice Catch guys!!
