Bait & Tackle Reports

Wahoo to Drum
Posted On : 2013-09-16

Although I may sound like a broken record with this report but Wahoo fishing continues to be great.  Many boats these past couple of days have been coming in with 13 or 14 Wahoo's with most of them being pretty large fish.  Most of the bite has been consistently at the Big Rock with a bite going on just south of that also.  Their have been several sailfish caught this past week so don't be surprised if you hook up on one while out there.  Dolphin's, other than schools of bailer's, have slowed down some.

Inshore fishing has been up and down this past week.  Toward the beginning of the week the big Spanish and Bluefish where pretty thick, especially around the Cape, but the bite slowed down some toward the end of the week.  Their continues to be some nice Flounder being caught just off the beach around the artificial reef's with smaller ones being caught behind Shackleford and around the Port.

The big Drum bite in the pamlico has been fantastic these past couple of days.  Casey, who does all of our rod repair and custom rod builds in the shop went the past 2 days and had some memorable catches.  Saturday he went and ended up releasing 21 old drum.  He did so well Saturday he decided to go again Sunday and ended up with 23.  All the fish where caught on an Owen Lupton rig with a Shad hung on the hook.
